Hi! For everyone who will be attending Paris' Japan Expo from the 2nd to the 5th of July this year, I have the great pleasure to announce this:

I just received a newsletter saying that the studio CLAMP will be honnour guests, to celebrate their 20th anniversary, and the Japan Expo's 10th.

I think I'm dying a little with the joy.

Japan Expo's website here for the French-speaking. Please don't hesitate to ask me if you want me to translate for you.

Also, who would be interesting in a meeting in Paris or the convention and is there anything special you would like to do?

If we all meet, we might get CLAMP a present, too.

In fact, there is an English version (http://www.japan-expo.com/art-1-en-accueil.html) of the site and this (http://www.japan-expo.com/art-110-en-guest_:_clamp.html) is the page devoted to CLAMP!

Personnaly, I'll try to video tape every event and do faithful reports of them!

I'm also thinking of doing a translation of the interview included in a recent promotional DVD celebrating their 20th anniversary in France. I think that ti was in fact originally made for Angoulême Festival last year, but well...
Would anyone be interested?

Fate .... I'll cosplay for my first time, as Fye, at the Japan Expo.

If you buy a ticket to the expo, will be able to see the CLAMP event? or do you have to get another ticket for that event?

You have to get one of the special tickets to get a better chance to see them because I think it's entropy based D: Which is very displeasing I must say.

Where do you live? It'd be awesome if you came, that con is really great.

Japan Expo is a convention, so if you buy a ticket, you can go to all the events.
However, because so many people want to get autographs and such, you now have to "win a chance" to meet the guests, that is to say they draw lots... But even if hitsuzen is against us, I think we should be able to catch a glimpse of the ladies during conferences.

If you want, you can even get you ticket online, here (http://www.fnacspectacles.com/place-spectacle/manifestation/Exposition-JAPAN-EXPO---FORFAIT-4-JOURS-JAPE4.htm) for example. If you need some help with French or anything, just ask!

Me and my friend inafrozenworld are planning to go... If it still seems like a good idea after we sleep on it and it won't leave us bankrupt. The prices of accommodation are pretty high D:.

Not so sure we will bother if we can't see Clamp though...

A meet-up sounds like a lot of fun however (I can practice my limited higher French Skills :D)

Ok I told your friend whom I am stalking because of her fics that I would go back to her to give her more information about hotels, since I might have something interesting to share, but I have to ask about it to a friend first.

I think you'll be able to see them whatever happens because I'm pretty sure they'll give a conference as well. I'm SO excited. Plus, Paris is a beautiful city, you should give it a try =)

Last year Takeshi Obata was at the Japan Expo but I didn't want to waste hours waiting for an autograph. But this time, I think I could wait all night long just to have a glimpse of their face!

from what i gathered from previous Japan Expo and huge waiting queues for a signature by other artists, there is maximum ONE actual drawing.
the signatures can go all the way up to 60.
The are done on a beautiful picture done by the author specially for JE (you can generally choose between 1 to 4 pictures), or you can get them to sign on your own manga/artbooks but you can't have a picture in this case (and believe me they are cool).

On the 4 days of the convention, the main artist (in this case CLAMP) is often only there for 1 to 2 afternoons.
you can't really approach them (and give them something)except if you win a signature but you can see them if you manage to get a place in the room where the conference is held (waiting here I come again. It's difficult to get a place, there is so few of them, it's unfair.
(I suppose that in this case parts of it will be also projected in the screens available in the convention).
In this particular case, since they will be the judges of the CLAMP cosplay contest, all the participants (short list I fear) will be able to see/give them something i suppose.

The main problem however is the number of people who will be there for them.... last year (and CLAMP wasn't there....T_T) it was 140 000 pers.... This year it's longer, with CLAMP, and while last year 300 pers. where able to enter between 1h30 to 1h before everybody with special tickets (very costly,to costly, depending on your budget : from 100€ to 45€ when the normal price for 4 days is 30 € and even that is not cheap for a poor student like me) this years it's 1100.... last year already it was near impossible to get a signature tickets after them.... and it's no use to have a booth in JE (yes exhibitors enter before the platinum / gold/whatever tickets) because exhibitors can't win signature tickets (they can't play for it)...


I will be there, I will try to get a ticket (I am one of those lucky 1100 -it was a present-) but even then I fear I will not be able to see them up close.there is still some of those tickets up to sale :).

If anybody has a better idea to see them up close i am interested....^_^(desperate in fact)

Also, CLAMP cosplay contest?? What's that about?? I'm going to be Horitsuba!Fai and even if I know I won't win with it because the outfit is quite simple (but it's my favorite of all of his I don't want to do another one), but it would be enough to even just stand by them and thank them.

For Yoshiki, two years ago, the conference was not in a small room but on the big scene. I think CLAMP can draw even more people for theirs, so it will probably be the same.

As my french is really bad, I don't know whether I've understood the information properly so...the premium tickets are just available for french people?? People from abroad (like me) can't reach one of them???
