EDIT2: the PV video I posted in this community a few days ago has been updated with info about this 9th volume (in case you don't want to re-watch it, just skip to 1:03min to see only the part about the vol09)
And here goes the 12 cards that come together with the Special Limited Edition of this last volume:

It's a nice surprise to discover we got yet another new artwork on the special edition sleeve case :) At first, I thought for a sec. that it was a shame she is holding her star staff in it though, since in the original first run of the series, the color splash page of the last chapter was a flying Sakura without her star staff and at the time, Clamp explained that at that point of the story, Sakura had grown up and didn't need it anymore, she could fly on her own, which tied up pretty nicely with what we learned about it 10 years later in TRC when she gave it away to the other Sakura...BUT! she is indeed not holding it on the actual cover of this last volume 9 in which she holds Syaoran's hand instead, nice touch!!

EDIT: chibiyuuto made a new detailled post about this last volume right here: Cover of “Card Captor Sakura” vol. 9 (final) ~Nakayoshi 60th Anniversary Edition~
and very interesting fact I didn't noticed: the sleeve of the special edition is actually a transparent case on top of the volume, meaning both normal and special indeed do have the same cover/are the same book. The difference between both editions, as expected, are all the bonus materials (sleeve case, cards)EDIT2: the PV video I posted in this community a few days ago has been updated with info about this 9th volume (in case you don't want to re-watch it, just skip to 1:03min to see only the part about the vol09)

Date: 2015-08-27 02:12 pm (UTC)Thankfully though, chibiyuuto looked more closely than I did at the special edition cover pic posted above, and saw that it was actually a transparent sleeve case on top of the vol09 cover, something I didn't notice until I read his post ^^;
If all goes well, I should be receiving my special edition next monday from Japan, I will tell you then 100% sure what this is about. But even without that, every info we got until now seems to indicate that purchasing the special limited edition is enough.
My only doubt in all this is: if the special edition is really a 'better version' of the regular one, then who would bother buying the regular edition...? The only answer I see is 1-there are limited stocks of the special edition, so only the first ones will get it and the rest will forcefully have to buy the regular version whether they like it or not and 2-fans will buy the regular version because of the lesser price? But sincerely, it's only a 1000yens difference...

Date: 2015-08-27 03:40 pm (UTC)And reading your speculation about the "better" quality of the special edition makes sense; it's quite similar to the way Japanese music agencies put out limited and regular editions of CDs. While they basically have the same contents, the limited always have nicer bonuses but are limited in number, while the regular are cheaper but are also collected for completion's sake.

Date: 2015-08-28 05:29 am (UTC)I'm usually fine ordering everything online from there, the real issues are: shipping cost, customs fees and of course, in moments like these when I don't have enough information or visual of the product, as you can imagine I would love to have the possibility like you to just walk in a bookstore to look for it...

In it, they say that "完結を祝して最終第9巻では、
CLAMP特別描きおろし特製クリアスリーブケース+SPビッグイラストカード(B6大)12枚セット付き特装版
を同時発売!!"
So it's not just guesses now: it's official that the sleeve case is indeed transparent, meaning that the book itself, from all appearances, is the exact same, and from the look of it neither of us should have to purchase both versions ;)

Date: 2015-08-28 05:55 am (UTC)At 1:03min, they added the info about the the last volume, and we clearly see the clear case slipping in the book, which is the one with the SxS cover.

Not having to buy both versions is great for me: I will use the money to purchase the card captor sakura 2016 calendar ;)

Date: 2015-08-28 02:39 pm (UTC)And there is a calendar????? Oh wait I might have read about it, but now I'm not sure XD

Date: 2015-08-28 04:19 pm (UTC)It will be an anime wall calendar with 7 pages, dimensions are A2 (59.4 X 42cm), and it cost around 1700 jpy. Since there are no previews available at the moment, I have no idea which artworks are included and whether there is new art or not.
But I'm definitely buying it this year no matter what: the "CCS fever" is slowly but surely coming to an end, and I don't think we will ever see another CCS calendar in the future, this one might possibly be the last ever...

Date: 2015-08-29 03:49 am (UTC)Even with all the news about the sleeve case, I had thought that there would be something like a mini clear book to hold the cards separately from the book. Turns out the sleeve case is big enough to hold BOTH the volume and the cards. I guess that is the only thing I was disappointed in; I would have to find something to hold the cards because I don't want to have the volume all bundled up like that forever. ^^ but overall the volume is really pretty and wonderful!
