[Question] about communities

Hello there, I'm planning of rescanlating past Gohou Drug volumes using decent raws and proper translations, but I have one problem: where to publish it? I was planning on posting them chapter by chapter on clamp2share, but it seems that posts are moderated now, so it would probably take ages waiting for them to be approved. Is there any other lj community or forum that allows sharing scanlations? I know there used to be forum called Clamp in Forumland but it's been down for months.



EDIT: Okay, it seems that LJ is all too prone to drama over matters that weren't even a question here. I decided to use tumblr, cause commenting there isn't as easy as here, making it less likely for drama to ensue and still simple enough for people to access. I'll try to finish first chapter today. You could also make a tumblr or a wordpress, like Urashichiken (Tumblr) and the former Fail Manga (Wordpress). I use wordpress on my personal server for my scanlator.

I must admit that cleaning scans and using translations when there is already a licensed english copy does seem rather backwards...

The thing is I started scanlating it long, looong ago when I first got decent raws. Since then I learned a lot more about scanlating and I want to redo it as commemoration of new release. Besides, Legal Drug was licensed by Tokyo Pop which is no more. So I have two reasons to do it: further self-improvement and out of love for this manga which never got enough love in the community in the past (I remember it had only two fansites back in the day of Web 1.0), perhaps because it lacked flashy art by Mokona.

dangit. A warehouse booksale here just had a whole bunch of Tokyopop books on clearance for about USD1 each. They had several complete sets of Legal Drug; I wish I'd known to grab some, I'da made a killing on ebay.XD

They don't sell those licensed english copies here in Mexico so I could buy the and I don't have a credit card so I could buy them. SO. Without those scanlations, I'm stuck.

Totally agree. I think if you want to scanlate Legal Drug so much, it would be a better idea to buy the magazines or even the full volume of the non-licensed chapters and scanlate those instead.

Scanlating licensed work is like robbing the series of being bought legally, so you can't really say you love the series if you're helping people not to buy it ^^; Even if Tokyopop is down, there are still copies of the book out there after all.

I use scanlations as a pre-view to see if I like a series or not. If I like it, then I go buy it.

You know, I made a long comment here about how I actually own most of Clamp works I read online and how those volumes still on sale won't bring Clamp any profit, cause they were already paid for by stores and how saying scanlations are bad and wanting me to scanlate new chapters at the same time is hypocrisy. But you know, I don't care anymore. I will make those scans and publish them, and whoever wants can read them or not.

I do have a job and I always offer people who are in a country with no good access to them nor can afford them entirely to get them. Who don't have a credit or debit card and aren't able to get one.
I offer no shipping fee and no proxy fee.

That is if they're not a jerk about it like some people.

I can recommend Tumblr too, I thought about LJ, but it's gone rather dead lately and Tumblr seems like the new place to be (now if I can figure out how to make a decent layout that is ;))
I post them on Tumblr then link to them from the LJ communities. What I liked about Tumblr was the global tags mostly and it works like a community too, so I have my personal one then the scanlation group and it's easy to see the different dashboards of the two.

There're several comms here on LJ, like clamp_community or gohou_drug, though I'm not sure what that one's policy on scanlations are. Since it's an older series and all, I'd still try posting to clamp2share! Even if it takes a while to be approved, it'll get to people. There's also things like free_manga? Try looking up "scanlations" or "manga" or something of the sort under the interests of the site, you might find a good place to post at.

Making your own comm or posting over at tumblr/whichever site you like and such might be a good idea, as well.

Yes, I know about free_manga and that's where I posted scanlation of yesterday's chapter even before dark_persian's (I got kinda hyper when I saw the scans), but shh ;P I think that creating tumblr account and cross-posting it on clamp2share will be the best option after all.
