As some might remember, Viz first released X/1999 flipped way back in 1995-2005. We can finally get it in English unflipped with color pages!

They can unflip it all they want, but until it has an actual translations instead of crap, they're not getting my money.

Viz has some other 3-in-1 manga. Anyone know if they re-edit those? After all these years, I imagine they should have someone new editing those books.

I know Tokyopop did not fix their horrible Fruits Basket translations in their hardcopy omnibus; that's a big minus.

Dark Horse has their own editor redoing their omnibuses, so points to them.

I have the VIZBIG versions of Fushigi Yugi, and I'm almost positive they're not re-edited... :[ It's the only set of the rereleases that I have though, so I can't vouch for all of them.

But on the plus side, Viz will almost definitely stick to the release date unlike Dark Horse (I've only seen a few titles pushed back and none of them have been pushed back after having dates in press releases, they just had earlier dates on other sites like Amazon), and the chances of them taking the color pages out like Tokyopop are low as well.

No point sticking to a schedule for me since again, the translations are so bad I don't consider them worth any money. It's depressing really, that they butchered my fave manga. It's always been my dream Viz would lose the rights to X and it would go to a publisher that actually cared about treating it right.

I'll continue to be happy with my printed out translations, Asuka phonebook collections, and tankouban.

YESSSS, now I can actually get nice versions of X/1999 not in French! It was killing me trying to figure out what they were saying. (my French sucks, but the French version is seriously beautiful!)

I just hope they don't cancel it at the last minute or anything!

I'm guessing Viz realised (with the DH omnibuses) that there is a definite market out there for tarting up CLAMP stuff.

Would it be too much to hope that it might also be based on some insider information from the publishers that CLAMP might be releasing an ending, soon, so Viz might want to re-interest the Western Fandom?

Definitely look for translations online to read once you've read the Viz ones so you can get accurate characterization. The Viz ones are THAT BAD.

Best news I've seen on X yet! I was wondering when they would flip it back.

I do hope that the series will finish releasing the final chapters in Japan. The hiatus has been going on for so long.
