xxxHOLIC 213: last page, last sentence translation

Hello there. I notice that no one has translate the last sentence of the last page of xxxHOLiC end. So I offer translation (hoping it is correct)if someone wants to know:



(They) will surely meet again. The store owner will wait how many night it will takes. And then again, other one bitter happines. (Still, there's an unique happiness).And that is also another form of happiness".

Thanks to syaoranmew and xploded_tb for helping me on last sentence.

These sentence really makes me feel even sadder... I was wrong with the "bitter heappines" translation, but that two words in my opinion are perfect to summarize this End. I really wanted to give love and hugs to all the characters. T___T
And just to say something more...I read all Rou serie again, and the end did actually makes more sense now, but it still remain the saddest End I ever read...poor poor character. I loved them so much and now I feel so bad for all of them >_<
Just a question though...after reading again I notice one thing that, stupid me, I didn't notice before...I mean...since chapter 184 Shizuka knows about the purpose of the egg (and he didn't use it!) Mokona told him about it...Am I the only one who notice that only now? I think he didn't use it because he knows that the thing Watanuki is more scared about is to forget about Yuuko...and he didn't want to do something that in some way will be painful for Watanuki.
What do you think? I love Shizuka<3

Isn't "それもまた、幸福の一つ。" translated as "Still, there's an unique happiness"? O_o

mmmh actually I dind't find 幸福 as one word but since 幸 is bitter and 福 is fortune/happines I think the translation could be bitter hapiness..but I could be wrong -_-

幸 is most certainly not bitter. You are thinking of 辛 which is a different kanji.

Considering the chapter's been out for barely a couple of days, wouldn't it be better to place the entry under a cut, for those who haven't caught up?

Definitely agreeing on the ending making more sense if you re-read the previous volumes - there's a lot of foreshadowing scenes, and the theme of the last couple of mini-arcs make a LOT more sense now.

I'm pretty sure the story behind the egg has been passed down to all the Doumeki that has lived. It just that no even one of them could find the will to use the egg because, i think, they care for Watanuki as Shizuka did.
Maybe the OAD will help us understand... I'm starting beliving it will be not about little Shizuka...but about the grandson..we will see...

I noticed I have always thought that he was told by Mokona so he would no when to use it but still he didn't but if he had used it and Watanuki forgot Yuko surly he would also forget everything he ever did with everyone for her then there would be no memories of the things he did with Doumeki either or meting Mokona and the Twins also now he will never forget Doumeki not because of all the Grandsons but because of the eye and the blood he shared with him and I am not sure about anyone else but upon rereading and reflecting on this story I think he has lost quiet enough of his memories already so indeed it would have been cruel to use it.

I never thought that forgetting Yuuko would mean forget everything Watanuki has gone though...That indeed an interesting point of view. But then again why did Yuuko ask Doumeki to use the egg when time comes? I think poor Doumeki had really an hard time. Whatever his choice would be in some way il will turn out sad and cruel for someone. Poor Poor Shizuka! I really love him.

I love him as well but I think Yuuko also new his lineage and that it would be handed down I guess and apparently it is the end of Rou not of Holic and we may see a continuation in the future either way I am excited about seeing the oad and learning more about Doumeki and seeing Yuko as well as Haruka.

Rou is the name of the second serie of the xxxHOLiC manga.
The OAD we are talking about is a special dvd that will come out with the limted edition of volume 19 of the manga.

Not gonna really argue about the translation that much, but kinda asking, no word in that line, "それもまた、幸福の一つ。" really translates to "unique", right? :O

Heh, I do hope you agreed! XD Because the entire plain-ness of the ending with nothing exciting or particularly heart-warming/heart-breaking seemed to drive that particular line the way it is, thus this kind of line IMO seems more appropriate.
