[Spoilers and speculations] xxxHolic ch 213 discussion

There were some amusing things posted at the xxxHolic thread at 2ch. While we have a couple days left, what are your thoughts to how xxxHolic will end after all these years, and have you run across any spoilers yet?



2ch comments include:
- It's all been a dream.
- Some sort of reincarnation
- Watanuki's memories are in the egg
- Rou ends, but xxxHolic continues
- Watanuki = 'ass chin' (Fei Wang)
- Another non-ending

The OAD spoilers say that Doumeki's mother makes an appearance and that the anime was short & open-ended. If the OAD ties in with the manga, maybe the last chapter will be about Doumeki?

Anyway, feel free to comment about anything.

Wait, wait up.

Watanuki is just like Fei Wang Reed? A reflex of Syaoran's desire? Wasn't he a space-time anomalia or something?

I think they meant that Fei Wang was obsessed about Yuuko and never got to resolve it, so they think Watanuki will become Fei Wang. It's been brought up before....although nobody wants to believe cute Watanuki turns into Fei Wang. With 1 chapter left, this theory is kinda doubtful.

My bets are on the first three, and I am hoping for the fourth lol. A weird theory for me is that in some way Himawari is actually playing a much larger role that it appears :D

I'm also hoping for the Himawari role; I'm kinda sad that after everything that happened, she just got married w/ someone else and end of storie.
The egg, hopefully CLAMP will tell us what it means.

About Watanuki becoming Fei W., makes sense, but if it's true, then one question remains: HOW THE FUCK DID HE GOT THAT CHIN.

What about the egg containing actually the soul of Fei Wang Reed? Doumeki is forced to use it to free Watanuki from his waiting and starts the chaos by releasing that man into the world. What more twisted than that?

If I recall correctly, the epilogue of T.R.C. stated that Watanuki's memories were stored along with C!Sakura's in Larg's earring, so I guess we can rule out the egg theory.

We need to figure out a contingency plan in case CLAMP attempts to pull another "Rou" on us. I vote for zeppelins!

Here is a an idea the chapter isnt the end the oad might be the end I have been thinking that for a few days that they might do that and even though I would like it I am also pretty sure DoumekixWatanuki wont happen but how lovely it would be if they did end up together.

The fangirl in me would love it for baby!Yuuko to come out of the egg and DouWata to raise her as her loving parents... that might explain why she shipped them so much...? xD

I agree that Himawari will likely come back into it - or at least that she ought to. She was such a major character for most of the series that I can't imagine her simply fading out without contributing to the final chapter in some way. Admittedly, CLAMP's rushed endings are becoming infamous, but I still feel like she must have some role to play, planned right from xxxHolic's early days.

Interesting to think "xxxHolic" might resume after "xxxHolic Rou" has finished - and it does seem possible to me - but I wonder what the point would be? Why the "Rou" interlude, I mean? I doubt a return to the original series name would mark a return to how things were pre-timejump...unless, of course, the dream theory is correct and the whole "Rou" arc turns out to be a dream, from which Watanuki (or whoever's dreaming...) will wake up in the upcoming chapter. Hmm.

Well if Yuuko were to become a dominant character again (even if dead) or if Watanuki manages to leave the shop he would no longer be in the Cage (Rou) thus a possible name change....that's the only way i could see why it would go to being called xxxHolic again

I guess that'd be the biggest problem about playing with time and space in stories. You get really messed up and open endings because ANY possibility IS a possibility and there probably are universes out there carrying out each and every possibility. (palms face) Talk about grand headaches.

Personally, I may go for the reincarnation bit. Who reincarnates into who, however, is another matter altogether. :\ The theories are all pretty vague just as the story itself is turning out to be, so it's not an easy task to guess the possible outcomes even vaguely accurately. Doesn't help that CLAMP is putting things in and then putting them on the proverbial shelf. (rolls around in agony)

I'm also rooting for the non-ending bit, but gotta take TRC's ending into consideration too. Right now, there are waaay too many speculations in my head for me to even pick out a few and theorise further. OTL

Watanuki being Fei Wang doesn't make any sense in my mind. I think it's easier if he is Clow. But then, how would they explain Eriol and Sakura's father?

We are talking about Clamp, so probably it will be another non-ending... T___T

I'll keep my expectations low. I vote non-ending.

Either that, or we'll have a nice scene with Yūko telling Watanuki to [insert action here], after which Watanuki wakes up, makes breakfast while Mokona, Maru & Moro run around the house.

To me Watanuki being Fei Wang doesn't make sense because I'm sure he didn't know of Watanuki's existence in TCR. Surely if he was Fei Wang, they wouldn't have had to go to so much effort to hid him (Watanuki) because well... He would know about himself.

Well, maybe when he became FWR he forgot about who he really was.
So he doesn't really need to know about Watanuki because he doesn't remember being Watanuki.

Yeah. He would technically also be Fujitaka and Eriol, who (if Yuuko was referring to CCS!Sakura way back in volume 2 when she said that Clow's successor was living in their world) would end up existing in the same world as the soul that they came from.

Considering all of the blatant weirdness and contradictions in the "Watanuki=Clow" idea, why do the fans keep on coming back to it? :/

I actually had a real actual dream about it last month, and when I woke up I was so surprised to actually remember so many details about it that I wrote about it right away ^^

I dreamed about xxxholic ending. Somehow I saw myself writing in clamp_now community an exclusive news: that the last volume (v13 in my dream) has just came out in Spain, that it was something really exceptional as it was actually released even before the last chapter appeared in magazines in Japan (which makes no sens irl but it's a dream...), which was scheduled for 2-3 weeks from now (which mean than even while dreaming, I knew more or less which moment of the month it were) and that there was indeed only one chapter left but there were also extras afterward, but these extras weren't a sequel of the main story but some sort of mini oneshots that all the crazy fangirls ever wanted to see, like a DoumekixWatanuki BL scene, something with Yuuko and Clow Reed, I don't remember what else...
But then, my mind went back to how xxxholic last chapter was, but I could only see the last page, it was all dark and it felt uncomfortable, and I wondered how could everything ends well, and something happened in the story but I can't tell what, all I could see in the end was Yuuko voice bubble on the page saying: "and what if it was...all a Dream?" (everything in my dream was in english even though it was supposed to be a spanish book, but hey, again, it's a dream); meaning there was no need for a 'resolution', for a 'solution' for a story that since the very start was only a Dream. Then I could read the letters "END" at the end of the page, with nothing else surrounding it.
But whose dream I wondered? Then I could see the shadow of someone waking up with a tear stained face, and it was Syaoran, as an adolescent in Hong Kong who stood up and looked sadly at the moon in the night sky, and in my dream, of course, it had to be him, since Watanuki is his other self, who else would it be that could dream that but....is it really Syaoran or another Watanuki with his face I asked myself? Aren't I too obsessed with including Syaoran no matter what in the story? and hey! Didn't I just see the last page of the last chapter: there was nothing but darkness and a line of text, where did Syaoran came from? It feels like it came 'after the book', meaning the book/manga of xxxholic itself was a Dream, and Syaoran was 'reality' that came after the 'END' @__@
And suddenly the last page with the words "and what if it was all a dream?" came back to my mind once again and I somehow woke up...

SO! My subconsciousness says it votes for options 1, 4 and 6.
My awaken self is really much more with the last option: no ending, it will continue on in another manga.
