Dark Horse has a product page posted for Chobits volume 1. Looks like it's going to be 720 pages, so most likely 4 volumes in 1, which makes sense, since Chobits was originally 8 volumes (so there should be a second omnibus coming soon after this one). It's scheduled to come out January 27, 2010 with a suggest retail price of USD24.95.
Oh, and here's the cover:

Random note: Does anyone else find it a little strange that it's rated "12+"?

Can't say I find the 12+ rating strange. Particularly in the beginning, it's rather...explicit.

The English version was only four volumes? Huh, the Japanese is 6.

Chobits was originally 8 volumes, so they're going to be publishing another one too. :'o

I'm definitely going to buy a copy once it comes out. ♥ And I agree that the "12+" rating is... odd. Maybe they'll change it.

right, chobits was originally 8 volumes in jp and english. glad they are keeping the original title font and not TP's weird design.

Ah, right!
The font looked so natural to me, I didn't even notice it. I didn't like what Tokyopop did with the title. :/

I'm also liking the cover design more than TP's.

I'm going to end up buying all of CLAMP's works several times over. I know it.

Because I am SO buying this!

I have all of the Tokyopop releases, but NEW TRANSLATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus, I'm willing to give more money to CLAMP.

It's lovely! I've been meaning to buy Chobits for years, but I never could find all the volumes in nice condition. I'm not too fond of omnibuses (so difficult to fit in my purse!) but the price is right. Plus, Dark Horse's products always look great!

I never read the last few vols of Chobits yet so I'll probably get part two of this when it comes out.

Hmm, I would have thought 12 was about right. There's sex in it, but it's pretty tame and jokey. The whole concept of robot girlfriends is pretty dodgy when you take it seriously, but that's a whole other can of worms.

Hm yeah, 12+ is a bit of a low age rating for Chobits... Tokyo Pop had them rated 16+.

Nice cover though.

Um, okay whatever. XD
I have the original Manga so I don't really care, I'm glad for the guys who'll buy this new release.

Dark Horse is gonna really regret giving the book a 12+ rating. Naiive parents are going to buy it for their manga loving 12 year olds, after seeing in a bookshop and thinking,'Oh, this looks nice, and it's for her age group', then buying it without actually flicking through it. Then, a month or so after they have given it to their son/daughter (but most likely daughter; as at first glance it looks like a girls book), they will flick through it and be horrified at its contents. The complaints from parents will fly in! What's the betting the book will be re-issued again with a higher age rating?! I personally find the idea of it being released as a 12+ pretty funny.

I'm happy Dark Horse is taking up Chobits. Anything TokyoPop took turned ugly. Even the paper quality has been horrible recently. 8|

I'm really likin' that cover right now. |D

lol 12+ rating XD

That reminds me... I was in the library the other day and the Chobits DVD was in the children's section. I went up to the front desk and told the lady that the box explicitly stated 16+ haha fail library. fail.

In fairness, the theme of love can happen between any two people of CCS is totally for all ages but even sometimes like the Rika and Terada-sensei relationship, I can't help but wonder if it's okay for little kids to read :D;; (though I doubt they'll fully comprehend it)

I am reeeeally happy about this.
Can't wait really.
But question, I read here http://manga.about.com/b/2009/08/31/manga-publisher-tokyopop-announces-date-time-for-webcast.htm that Dark Horse picked up Cardcaptor Sakura.
Is this even true? T_T

Really? I was like 'O.O OMG! YES!'
And then I couldn't find it anywhere on the Dark Horse site and I figured not.
