[Project] Final Fanbook Submission Guidelines

It's almost submission time for our
Happy 20th Anniversay •CLAMP• Fan Appreciation Fanbook.


1. What to submit - Fanwork Guidelines (you can attach it to an email, or upload it to mediafire or anywhere, etc...something easily retrievable for the editor)

2. When to submit - July 11 through July 25th (time zone dependent on your editor, so email your editor if you think you might be late. NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED)

3. Who to submit your entry to - Editor List

4. How to submit your entry - Email your submission to the appropriate editor [subject line: "CLAMP FANBOOK - your country"]. They will simply check to make sure your file opens and that the content is ok. They will NOT review your work, so check your spelling and grammar yourself. They will hold all work until the end of the submission time period.

5. Exceptions: If you had previously emailed me about a special project or exception to a guideline and I ok-ed it, please email me your submission directly [seichan80@gmail.com]. If you can use the original email in your submission, that would save me time in looking up your original request. Do NOT send me anything if you did not already email me before. No other exceptions will be made at this point.

6. Reminders:
Sign your work somewhere! We will not type up a list of everyone's names, so sign your work with your preferred name. Please check out this post for examples.

7. A quick no-no list:
1. No original CLAMP artwork (or anybody else's artwork outside your own).
2. No coloring of original CLAMP artwork.
3. No tracings, vectors, or drawings that look like tracings.
4. No collages of more than one image. Pick your one best drawing or story to count as 1 item.
5. No vulgarity, profanity, etc.
6. For group cosplay photos, the group photo will be 1 item for each person in the photo. (ie. a 5 person group photo cannot submit 5 photos)
7. All submissions are subject to rejection if it seems objectionable.

8. While we will accept everything that is submitted, we would love to give your work as much space as possible. Please consider helping us out by contributing.

Everything will eventually be reviewed by the final editors, and all submissions will eventually be made public after we send off the original completed fanbook to CLAMP.

It's almost time! What a bunch of work for the editors to do!! I know that I'm not one, but I can sympathize, right? I'm sure that you will have fun doing it along the way so. . . YOU CAN DO IT!!!

The "No drawings that look like tracings" is a bit confusing: so if a fan draw too well, it's a no-no? The drawing got to be made with obvious errors or uglier to be sure not to be too close to Clamp's style? @___@
And when you say "tracing", you mean something similar to a determined art (like making a copy of, say, one of CCS volumes covers but just changing the colors), or something like "the face/body of your character is drawn too closely to the original style" even without being a copy of an already existing picture?
In the end, I have only made 1 drawing those past 2 years, so it won't be a problem in my case at all ^^;;;; Still, I guess we can say I am worried about the subjectivity of the persons who will judge the artworks, whose perceptions might be different from the creator's.

well, take 'tracings' on a case by case basis. as long as the artist realizes that clamp probably doesn't want to see a drawing that looks like a carbon copy of their own, most people will be alright.

Okay. =_= I wanted to send in some cosplay photos, but I have no clue where I put them and I don't have time for another photoshoot sadly. I did however, donate money for the project. so yay!

I have a question concerning image sizes, if you don't mind.

As there are over 500 works to be distributed over 440 pages--provided that we don't raise $200 within the next week--how much would, say, a 5.2x6.7 inch illustration be resized? I ask because my final drawing is going to be fairly detailed, and I would like it to remain at its current size. (I understand if it has to be resized, of course.)

we'll continue to raise funds until the book is ready to be printed.

images will be resized on a case-by-case basis if needed. depending on how detailed, shape, etc. we won't shrink anything too much.

it's ok if we said we'd write something and do fanart that we end up only submitting the writen since we didn't get the art done in time, right?

No one replied to the comment so we both agreed it would be ok. PLEASE tell me if there's a problem with me submitting her work for her, as I don't think she has a scanner where she is (shes posting me her letter).

Random question: Since the fanbook will only be made public after it's sent to Clamp, do you want us to wait and not post our fanart/whatever anywhere until then? I have a dA, and of course I'd like to put my picture up there, but I'll wait until the book's made public if I need to. I hope that wasn't too confusing. XD

Thanks. Another question, actually. When the book is made public, will it be as is? I was planning to put my full name in my letter to Clamp, but I don't really want that splashed all over the internet. Would it be possible to get it blacked out or something from when the book's online?

we aren't going to alter any of the pages. there are too many people involved and everyone's preferences might take too much time.
if you don't want your full name, maybe you could sign it as 'John S.' or 'J.Smith'.
