And from what I got, it seems she was frozen in time the very moment she was about to die - she had 'taken a step into the valley of death', like FWR said. It's like she was standing right on the borderline between life and death, I think.

By the way so what does this mean exactly? Does that mean that someone will be called back from limbo into the world of the living because Sakura was saved, or will someone be pushed back into the world of the dead? Kind of like a trade/equivalent exchange deal?

Oh, here's a little copypasta from my own LJ: it kind of seems FWR needed to break a lot of taboos in order to grant his wish: collecting souls, collecting memories of different dimensions, reversing the hands of time and finally recovering one on the point of death. So I don't think it's as much of a trade as it's about fulfilling a few requirements of sorts before he can have the power to bring someone back from the dead.
