[identity profile] starlady38.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] clampnowbackup
The New York Times today (11/28) has an article on CLAMP in America, and their influence on the growing popularity of anime & manga here.

I think this fits the posting guidelines. If not, please delete.

Interesting read. ^_^ Though how exactly Kamui is androgynous I'll never know...

I think they used androgynous as a nice way of saying "yeah, he tends to be a girly boy"? ♥

Why should there be a 'nice' way of saying that? XD There's nothing wrong with it.

It's the New York Times! XD They have to sound, I dunno, uber professional and PC! Or something. Don't ask me. I would have put in "pretty girly boy ♥" With the heart included, damn it.

I would have too. ♥ :3 Kamui should embrace what he is.

He should! And he also needs to realize that he could have postponed the end of the world a bit if only he'd shown up on the promised day in tight leather clothes with zippers. Or hard-to-undo buckles in "vital areas", if he wanted to postpone it longer.

Ageha Ohkawa? Isn't that supposed to be Nanase? @_@

And CLAMP is unfamiliar to Western ears? But weren't they popular in Animerica for X/1999?

Ah well.

Nicely written article for the most part though.

I think sometime last year, they all changed their pennames a little, Ohkawa changed from Nanase to Ageha.

A whole American article where they managed not to insult anime/manga and claim that it's polluting American teenagers?

I'm impressed!

wow, I'm so impressed, mangakas getting US news attention? go CLAMP!! Although I hope they don't let this mainstream popularity cause them to continue to neglect finishing some older works (such as X T__T)

Kuro-pin got cut off of the picture. :(

Interesting article. They got Mokona's name wrong but I love the fact they called it 'X' instead of 'X/1999'.

This part: Clamp’s best-loved creation is “Cardcaptor Sakura" made me laugh since CCS is one of my less favourite story from them (it's too cute, their angsty stuff is a lot better).

Nice! But I wish NYTimes had used manga art instead of anime art, since CLAMP actually draws the manga.

You tempt me to break my resolution to stop joining annoying sites I'll never actually use and don't want having my information, just to read one article... XP
