Kiseki random news
Sep. 9th, 2006 10:20 amApparently Tokyopop's version of Clamp no Kiseki is on an extended break with Volume 7 nowhere to be seen. It's a shame since many USA fans only have half a chess set now...with no board in sight.
Anyway, if you had been one of those people collecting this item, check out their forum here.
but be aware "There is no answer. We do not know when volume 7+ will come out. As soon as we know, we will tell you.
Any further questions on this topic (except a reasonable update query post at a rate of one per month) will be moved to the Deleted Threads section where no one can see them. Thanks!"---from the tokyopop moderator
clearly, emailing them and posting in their forum is not a way to contact them...but I'm sure if they get enough bothersome emails, they'll realize that fans still want them. There was one poster somewhere saying that they'd received a reply saying that there will be no new Kiseki releases this year.
Alternatively, it is being released in Spanish and French; both which are almost all out from what I understand. Japanese versions can still be found at many online stores for as little as $13.00which is about what they are worth..comparing that to Tokyopop's $29.99 retail price..haha, I wonder why it wasn't selling?..haha.

Date: 2006-09-09 05:43 pm (UTC)Yet I still buy them.Perhaps the price will come down when they pick the series back up. *wishful thinking*no subject
Date: 2006-09-09 06:44 pm (UTC)Maybe they will down the price when/if they release the rest. I had a total fit when I bought the first one for $30, and opened it to find the book was only, like, a mm thick or something. Still ended up buying the Tokyo Babylon one, but yeah.
TokyoPop, you are pricing geniuses.

Date: 2006-09-10 02:24 am (UTC)weren't they originally selling for that much in Japan?

Date: 2006-09-10 02:55 am (UTC)so yeah, tokyopop's version was way overpriced...which is why i pointed out walmart.com's price of $14 a long time ago, but then i heard people had trouble getting it from walmart. tokyopop's distribution to walmart must've fell through.
i didn't really want all of them, but at a lower price i might've gotten more of my favs. ^_^

Date: 2006-09-10 08:20 pm (UTC)I live in Israel, where there are a total of 4 shops in the entire country that sell comics and manga (bookstores don't sell them here), so I've been ordering them especially through one of the not-so-local comic book shops. Luckily a few other people here took interest in them after I ordered a batch, so they'll keep on bringing CnK here if and when TP start releasing it again.
-grumbles- After all the trouble I went through to get the first half of the series, I'd die a little if they stopped releasing it or started releasing it in a totally different format or low quality. D:
