Just noticed that Amazon.com posted the cover to Del Rey's Soryuden the Novel. Book One will be out April 28th.

del rey licensed the soryuden novels a while back; the clamp-illustrated ones. i think there are 13 books...i wonder if the sales will be large enough for them to actually release them all. i've seen various artbook scans, but i have no idea what the story is about. :)

I'm translating the manga...which I didn't know existed...for BWYS at the moment. It's amusing, I'll say that much.

manga? haha, i didn't know that existed, too. is that the one-volume version? i looked on amazon and saw the white with 4 guys cover (創竜伝原画集) and figured that that might be the manga.

the 13 volume novels is 創竜伝. it spans from 1993 to 2007, so the artwork features the lovely triangle torsos and then progresses to the elongated limbs.

Yeah, the head of BWYS, was like "will you translate Souryuuden?" and since I'm in it for the translation practice rather than anything else, I was like, "Sure!" and then I opened it up and saw that it was CLAMP. Which is great because their manga are easy to translate by and large, they have a very limited vocabulary (it's great how they marry the emotionalism of shoujo with the non-talking and action of shonen. i read shonen that is way more talky than CLAMP).

I think the manga's unfinished, I just translated what I was told is the third and final chapter and it ends on a cliffhanger.

The manga is supposed to be finished-- I guess... maybe after you read the one-volume manga, you're supposed to go back to reading the books or something?
