A friend pointed out this recent (10/22/07) online article.
Japan, Ink: Inside the Manga Industrial Complex at Wired. It's an article about the manga culture in Japan, and also explores doujinshi's relationship to current market trends.

Anyway, there's an amusing part in the article where the writer buys some CLAMP doujinshi and brings them to his meeting with Ageha Ohkawa. ^_^

What's hilarious is the Chobits doujin he bought doesn't seem much different than the series itself.

Fans even sometimes send her (Ohkawa) their dojinshi, and what she admires about these works is the dedication and the innovation they show. "There is originality here. There are new stories. It's not a copy."
