whoa! lol And people say American music videos are bad. MTV might not even play this.
Although to be honest I haven't watched a music video in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time (VH1 and MTV are the most boring channels in existance) so I really don't know what they play.
Is that supposed to be something Suga did when he was 19? (I'm assuming by the 'year 1985' thing written at the end that it is.....)lol dang

But I absolutely love how in Japan they make music videos to "cartoon songs." I mean, in the US we rarely do, and when we do it always includes clips from whatever show it's from.

Wow... that almost managed to completely ruin the song 19Sai for me. The bastard sexually molests her and then gets laid. Wow.

It was weird, but I don't feel like it ruins the song. (maybe just kills my brain?) Different interpretation for certain ._.;;

The themes seem to be observation, exploration and change, but I guess in the end, I'm left with a "Did it really happen, or were they both just thinking about it...?" kind of feeling.

I can see both points of view, yeah. The woman looks much older than 19 to me though.

The visuals are strange in relation to the series, so I think it doesn't have any significant relation to the characters. Kind of like Jigoku Shoujo [episodic revenge stories] and it's OP's PV Sakasama no Chou [random lesbian fluff].

None of the main characters in HOLiC aren't even 19 yet >_> Kinda find it an odd match.

I´ve already posted this on Chibi Yuuto-san´s Livejournal, but I think it may add something to the discussion:

I´d like to add that the video is art. If you´ve never had a sexual fantasy before, raise your hand... why does it look disgusting on the video and it doesn´t in the mind? Think about it. And do not forget that everybody is human, and human beings have sexual fantasies because sex is part of their reality. If the video was expressed that way it means that a lot of people agreed for it to come true. So it means it exists, you admit it or not. And although it is not widely possible to talk about that, it has always existed since long and people have hidden it because they´re afraid of what other people may think. Shikao-san is an artist, and it´s his role to express things, and that was perfectly done with the song and the video (they match perfectly).

If you analyze it more carefully (comparing the lyrics and the video) you could say that the girl masturbating is actually his nineteen-year-old counsciousness (because before you get into adulthood, you´re usually ashamed of sex. The girl is very shy, and she´s doing it hidden from other people, like it´s something wrong or sorta). So you could say that he caught his 19sai "in the act" and decided to show her that things changed in his life and that she shouldn´t feel afraid of exposing herself because sex is good. 19sai consents (she notices it isn´t that bad, by touching his face) and *oh* he is a man now, not a freaky 19-year-old-afraid-of-exposing-his-body-and-full-of-pimples-on-his-face boy anymore.

It´s all about changing into adulthood, and that change is something as shocking as it is in the video (I´m not gonna say it´s not shocking to see the guy photographing the girl when she pushing him away), but if you take only the visual into consideration and do not compare it to the lyrics, it looks creepy. If you join them, it´s art.

I´d reccommend people to get a translation of the song and watch it again, trying to get the meaning behind it. It´s probably gonna look way different.

See ya
